Here are a few examples of some of the topics we discuss with our members and some of the issues that we fight against to improve the employee work environment.
Know Your Rights!
It is hereby declared to be the policy of the United States to encourage the practice and procedure to protect the exercise by workers of full freedom of association, self-organization, and designation of representatives of their own choosing for the purpose of negotiating the terms and conditions of their employment or other mutual aid or protection.
Know What to Say!
Weingarten Rights:
“If this discussion could in any way lead to me being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working condition, I respectfully request that my union representative or steward be present at the meeting. Without representation, I choose not to answer any questions.”
The Weingarten rights guarantee an employee the right to union representation during an investigatory interview.
Employer/Union Rights Obligations!
The National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) forbids employers from interfering with, restraining, or coercing employees in the exercise of their rights relating to organizing, forming, or joining a labor organization to improve the terms and conditions of their employment or for collective bargaining purposes

Abuse of Authority in the Workplace!
Corrective Action:
The goal of disciplinary action should be to correct the employee’s actions rather than to merely punish them. Managers should never abuse their power. Their actions should exemplify leadership at all ties and never conflict with ethical standards.
